Yesterday YSR, 2day Khandu..

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu, who went missing on Saturday on a flight from Tawang, is dead along with four others after their helicopter crashed in bad weather in the mountains. The Chief Minister was returning to the Arunachal Pradesh capital Itanagar from Tawang when the helicopter lost contact with ground control as it neared the Sela Pass. The Eurocopter B-3 went missing 20 minutes after taking off from Tawang.

This is the second death of a Chief Minister in two years after the death of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in a helicopter crash in the Nallamalla ranges in the state in September 2009.Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy's Bell 430 helicopter went missing on 2 September 2009.The Indian Prime Minister's Office confirmed the helicopter's crash on the morning of 3 September and the death of all aboard.

These incidents raise many questions. Why the ministers have to fly though they are aware of the bad weather? Are the ministers not given full details about the weather and the flight conditions? Are the officials afraid to say no to a Chief Minister's decision and warn them? No matter what the reason is, the country has lost two leaders. Hope the officials pay more attention to these things from the next time.

May their souls rest in peace.
